Interestingly, New York currently houses the tallest modular building in the world, see this link: http://www.dezeen.com/2012/12/…
However, we doubt that the module units taking the strain at the bottom of this enormous structure bear any relation to conventional UK stacking units, just think what weight they hold up!
We haven’t a definitive record of the UK’s tallest conventional modular stack …can anyone out there enlighten us?
We do know that Europe’s tallest modular building — a $34 million UK project– was designed by O’Connell East Architects of Manchester. The 25-story student dormitory is made up of 805 modules and was built in 27 weeks in 1996. The modules were a bespoke design, however.
