What exactly is a Jack Leg Cabin?

3rd October 2019

A Jack Leg Cabin is a type of portable cabin which is a portable building.

We recently provided D&M Plant Hire with a new manufactured Jack Leg cabin with space for six desks plus a toilet and kitchen area.

What are Jack Legs?

Jack Legs are the four steel legs that are fitted on the outside of a portable building and which serve a number of purposes:

  1. The portable building is loaded onto a wagon using either a crane or a high-ab craned vehicle. The four chains of a crane are each attached to the four Jack Legs and are used to load the building onto the transportation and unload the building at its destination.
  2. The four Jack Legs sit on the ground and keep the floor of the Jack Leg cabin off the ground.
  3. The Jack Legs can be adjusted in height to enable the portable building to be levelled on uneven ground.
