We sponsor a 250 mile bridge to bridge cycle ride

10th September 2019

We are delighted to have helped the Hull & East Riding branch of the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation reach a fund raising amount of £100,000.

Eight men successfully cycled 250 miles from the Severn Bridge in Bristol to the Humber Bridge in Kingston upon Hull to raise money for this very important charity over a period of 3 days.

Portable Building Sales have supported this charity over a number of years and donated £2,000 to help the charity reach this milestone.

John and Angela Pye got involved with the NSIF after their eldest son Steven, contracted a virus on his spine that caused paralysis from the chest down. That was in the summer of 2007, and the prognosis from the doctors was that he would never walk again. However, his absolute determination and commitment to rehabilitation and physiotherapy has seen him improve to the extent he is now able to walk with sticks.

His efforts inspired his parents to take up the challenge and raise awareness of, and funding for, a treatment for spinal injury.

Ever since, they have worked tirelessly to fundraise for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation, running local events in Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire.

All the money they raise is ring fenced for the work instigated by the late Professor Geoffrey Raisman and now carried on by his team, whose integrity and dedication towards the cause of curing spinal injury is an endless source of inspiration.
