This building required a whole raft of thoughtful design features to fully address the pupils’ needs. Mike Ward, Managing Director of Portable Building Sales, gives his overview of the development of this Special School building:
“When creating buildings for special education, we always consider the needs of the pupils throughout the design process – from accessibility, layout and interior features, to the position of windows and the materials used in the building.
In this case, we utilised high level windows, and specified a roof that would minimise the sound of rain and wind, helping to provide a calming, nurturing environment where pupils with a range of specialist needs can flourish.
Modular buildings are ideal for the education environment – they can be installed on site in a matter of days, either on a weekend or over the school holidays to minimise disruption.”
