It’s a crying shame that the government is going to have to spend another six million pounds surveying the condition of schools in England. Local councils were originally tasked with the job – which many apparently did thoroughly.
However, the National Audit Office says that “inconsistent data” from some councils means that the overall condition data is not secure. Without this information the future strategic school building spending cannot be planned effectively, so the whole process has to be undertaken again!
