Michael Gove’s latest announcement is that state schools should be more like private schools. Although his main focus seems to be centred around academic standards, we hope that the encouragement applies to buildings management, too.
We’re not in the business of commenting on the politics of education, our role is to supply buildings to the sector. However, if this weeks’ statement means that all the state schools up and down the country with accommodation issues are free to arrange their own accommodation solutions, then we’re all for it. The rising birth rate has caught the system by surprise, and we deal with so many schools which are bursting at the seams. With greater flexibility to buy or hire in modular building solutions, these issues could be swiftly addressed by private sector companies like us.
