Rivermead School in Kent have been delighted with their previous Clearview Modular Building from Portable Building Sales.

As a consequence, when further provision was needed for September 2013, they came straight back to us with their repeat business. We have recently installed their second Clearview Modular Building at their site and further enhanced their school accommodation.

The school now has their new building on budget and on time for the September start of the 2013 – 2014 academic year.

The Clearview Modular Building was installed in August to the full satisfaction of our client and with absolutely no disruption to teaching and learning.

Portable Building Sales have completed a project to supply, install and internally refit a 7 bay modular building for a Mercedes truck dealership who were moving premises to a new site on an industrial estate in Birmingham.

Part of the contract was to completely refit and decorate the modular building both internally and externally in the customer’s brand colours, at our premises. Then we installed Jackpad relocatable foundations, delivered and installed the building and arranged for new air conditioning to be installed, all within a 4 week period from the date of order.

The four year old used modular building was completed one whole week ahead of schedule.

Our customer is highly delighted with the finished building and swiftly moved their furniture in to allow the building to be operational immediately after the weekend installation.

Portable Building Sales have completed a project to supply Kier Construction with an Elliott used 14 section double storey modular office complex for their client, Southampton Central Hospital.

This building was previously used by a school in Birmingham as a library and office accommodation facility and was purchased by us as the school moved to new premises and no longer had a use for the building.

Kier saved on expensive double handling costs by taking delivery of the building from its donor site in Birmingham and the building was successfully handed over on time and to the complete satisfaction of our client.

We have recently completed installing a new manufactured Clearview Multi Module double classroom for Pudsey Grangefield School.

The head teacher wanted a double classroom facility that didn’t look like a typical traditional modular building and that complied with the latest Part L Building Regulations.

The association was always known as the NPBA (The National Pre-fabricated Building Association) from its start in 1938. At a council meeting some years ago, Michael Ward the Managing Director of Portable Building Sales Ltd, tabled a suggestion that the name was old fashioned and didn’t reflect the modern industry it had become.

So he suggested changing the name from the NPBA, to the MPBA (The Modular and Portable Building Association) and offered to develop a new logo and website on behalf of the association. The idea was accepted, the new logo designed and a new website produced.

The government is acutely aware of the developing shortfall in educational accommodation, particularly in primary schools. Over the next few years many Local Authorities, Academies and Free schools will be obliged to create a significant number of extra places. In this article we aim to signpost the funding streams available to schools in order to address this growing issue.

Your school can access the relevant accommodation funding via the LA (or directly from the Department for Education, for Academy and Free schools). The funding stream option descriptions are to be found within the Capital funding for new school places National Audit Office report:

1. Basic need funding
2. Local Authority Maintenance capital
3. Voluntary Aided Maintenance capital
4. Academies Maintenance Capital
5. Devolved Formula Capital
6. Free Schools capital costs

Basic need funding:

Basic need funding is currently £1,300 million for 2012 to 2013. The Department contributes to local authorities’ costs of providing sufficient places in schools parents want to send their children to.

Local Authority Maintenance capital:

Currently £687 million for 2012 to 13. The Department provides funds to authorities to support the needs of the schools that they maintain; the funds can be used for purposes other than maintenance.

Voluntary Aided maintenance capital:

Voluntary Aided Maintenance Capital is currently £174 million. The Department provides funds to voluntary aided schools to meet their maintenance needs; the funds can be used for purposes other than maintenance.

Academies maintenance capital:

Currently £277 million for 2012 to 2013. Academies bid for funding to undertake condition work that cannot be met from routine maintenance funding, or to fund their expansion if successful and popular.

Devolved capital formula:

This is currently £194 million 2012 to 13. The Department provides funds to schools and academies to be used for any capital purpose relating to school building and assets, including Information and Communication Technology.

Free schools:

This funding is currently £296 million for 2012 to 13.The Department funds the capital costs of setting up Free Schools, which are set up in response to what local people say they want and need in order to improve education for children in their community.

In October 2010, the Secretary of State announced that capital funding should focus on “ensuring that there are enough school places to meet demographic pressures and to address urgent maintenance needs”. The Department allocates Basic Need funding in the form of a capital grant to local authorities specifically for the creation of new school places lovetopivot.com. The grant is not ring-fenced and authorities are free to use it for any capital purpose.

Modular buildings are now classified as permanent buildings under the October 2010 Part L Building regulations. Schools and Local Authorities should be able to address their accommodation needs through one or more of the funding streams above, and there is no reason why modern well designed modular buildings should not form a valid and valuable part of the national pupil accommodation solution.

Portable Building Sales have provided Flowserve with new manufactured offices for their Newark site.

Flowserve are one the world’s largest manufacturers of pumps, valves and seals to the process industry and needed new offices to replace very old jack leg cabins.

Portable Building Sales supplied the company with two 9.6m x 3.6m portable buildings that were linked together to look like one larger building.

Portable Building Sales recently won an order to supply VMOG, a large company in Glasgow with a Clearview Modular Building that is to be used as a security greeting facility and induction room and reception area.

The company wanted to create a good first impression to their visitors and clients, so chose Portable Building Sales’ unique Clearview Modular Building for its superior aesthetic appearance.

The company decided to hire the building for an initial 12 months period as it was not budgeted for in their capital expenditure HVAC installation and maintenance mesa, but then after the 12 months hire period, purchased the building.
